For the fifth assignment, I was tasked with creating a standalone hypermedia program that my future students would use. I designed my powerpoint interaction to act as an educational jeopardy game that would help to students to recall review the course material. I always enjoyed playing jeopardy during elementary and middle school to review for a test as it provided me with opportunity to make studying a little more fun. By completing the assignment, I have acquired many news skills that enhance my understanding as well as familiarity with the functions of powerpoint. After completing this task, I possess a clear knowledge of how to use Microsoft powerpoint to create interactive games. There are many elements of this assignment liked which include the freedom to choose and design a hypermedia program of my choice. In the future, I could improve this assignment by selecting the jeopardy categories beforehand and outline each question/answer as I would eliminate the amount of time spent on internet research. Also, I would make to sure to phrase each answer as a question and choose brighter colors for my fonts.

Teachers are continually making assessments and evaluating student performance in order to enhance responsiveness as well as improve instruction. Generally, educators encounter data in many practices via students demographics, test results, assigned tasks, and psychological attributes. If I was an elementary school homeroom teacher, I would likely want to obtain qualitative data from examples such as names, colors, favorite holidays, and other preferences because these students are more likely to be closely observed or interviewed. During lower grades of school, students are of younger age and possess a more personalized relationship with their teacher as there is frequent interaction as well as one-on-one discussions. However, if I was teaching high-school level world history I would use collect qualitative data from surveys and questionnaires administered the first week of class to gage the students overall knowledge and experience with the material. By reviewing the results, I can modify classroom instruction and adjust the curriculum to meet the student's needs. At the end of the year, I would distribute an end-of-course evaluation in the form of a survey that enables me to obtain a better understanding of the course experience for students but also their likes and dislikes.
When browsing my classmates blogposts, I enjoyed looking at the different design styles and subject matter displayed on the assignments they posted. Even though every student created a newsletter and a website, each demonstrated a certain uniqueness which was representative of our individuality and different perspectives. In addition, I found it interesting to look at the wide range of school subjects and grades my peers selected for each project. I liked reading my classmates reflections for each assignment especially their likes and dislikes allowing me compare my experience with others. Frequently, the struggles I faced while completing a particular assignment were commonly encountered throughout the class.
Generally, digital badges/tech-flex are great ways to motivate students and provide a visual representation of the skills one has mastered. I believe that digital badges can improve classroom learning by rewarding students for their performance and helps them to achieve goals/objectives as each badge is associated with certain criteria. In my opinion, awarding of digital badges are most useful in motivating and encouraging students who struggle to excel while creating a positive learning environment. Also, students can learn new things through digital badges and tech-flex challenges. Over the course of this semester, I have chosen not to participate in tech-flex challenges but having the option to complete them is greatly appreciated. If I had more free-time and was not taking a large course-load I would definitely be participating in these challenges to earn digital badges. Before the end of the semester, I hope to complete a few so I can achieve my first digital badge.
The next technology related skill I would like to learn is graphic design and photo-editing on platforms such as Adobe. Even though these abilities could be self-taught, I believe it would be beneficial to provide students with detailed instruction and first-hand experience with these desirable skills. By learning graphic design, I will have the ability to capture different ideas, messages, and emotions through an image. Over the summer, I plan to expand my technical skills by spending time to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop which are the most frequently used tools within the industry. I believe that understanding and familiarizing myself with graphic design will contribute to my professional as well as educational development. As a result, I will have the ability to develop visual concepts, effective communication, and conceptual ideas that could be extremely useful in this technology dependent world.
